This is an introduction for poets learning to PK.  Basically, many things I had to find out the hard way when I first started to PK.  By no means is this the only way to PK or possibly not even the best for you in particular, but it can serve as a helpful guide for those starting out.

- How do you heal out good?
Healing out can be very important in a near death experience, and almost necessary for PK at times, depending on who the attacker is.   A main point is whenever you cast spells fast, it's a sequence, so going too fast could result in death.  If you cast fast enough, every 4th spell in that sequence is ignored (to test it out, try healing or if you have a rogue, an easier way is ambushing an object quickly 4 times in a row).  As you can see, the first 3 go through, but the 4th is ignored.  But what measures sequences?  Simply put, the server allows you to cast 3 spells every 1 second and no more - The trick is, then, to cast exactly 3 spells per second.  The best way to become accustome to this is practice with a weak heal.  For example, instead of using Water of Life, use one of your weak heal spells like soothe or heal on yourself and have a friend attack you.  It takes a while to get it used to it but when you do, you will heal out probably five times as much.

- Why does it seem like some people dispell and scourge faster than me?
If two people had to dispell and scourge the same person, one could easily do it much better.  How?  It's simple, really.  Dispell slowly, 2 or 3 per second.  The moment you see dispell, scourge.  The thing is, if you do it fast, you're likely to cast dispell on them four or five times AFTER they've been dispelled before switching to scourge.  To test it out, go in the arena or poet halls and ask to test it out on someone who has harden body.  Dispell/scourge then retribution them both ways, you'll notice this way is MUCH more effective.

- It seems as soon as I go to dispell and scourge the enemy, I myself get dispell and scourged, or my fighter does, and I never get any time to go on the offense!  How can I avoid this problem?
If it's a problem for you, it's a problem for your your opponent.  What I mean by this is that if it's hard for you to dispell and scourge them because you have to keep asving and atoning yourself, then if you dispell and scourge them, they will be busy defending and can't offend.  The best way to do this is to hold harden body after a dispell, and if possible run away from the fighter instead of atoning and asving yourself, then continue to dispell and scourge them.  Whoever is busier defending is almost always going to lose.  If they try the same for you (HB and then go back to assaulting you), the best thing to do is NOT go back on the defensive, but instead tough it out.  Try just atoning or just casting sanctuary on yourself, because you do not want to be just a defender in a duel!

- In what order are these in importance: Sanctuary, Harden Armor, Atone, and Harden Body?
The most important thing is to get rid of curses.  Any curse that is vex or above is going to hurt you worse than being dispelled.  After this, sanctuary is very important, and it is considerably better than harden armor.  Harden body is important in varios occasions.  If you like to hold HB to stay more offensive, then it usually should be done first or right after removing curses.  If you are defending, or you are quick enough, it should be done after removing the curse and hopefully after sanctuary.
